Jay Thomas’ Introduction to Blogging

January 31st, 2012 by

Good afternoon everyone! I hope all is well on this fine, Spring like day! Well, I have entered the world of “blogging” and very excited to get started.

A Little Bit About Me:

I was born in Lynchburg, VA. and moved to Leesburg, VA. at a ripe young age of just a few months. I attended Catoctin Elementary School, JL Simpson Middle and Loudoun County High School. Sport of choice growing up and throughout high school was soccer but also played a bit of baseball and basketball. I was involved in the Boy Scouts, Student Council, and Key Club.

After graduating from high school I attended Radford University and moved back to the area in 1999. After working various jobs over the next 5 years I decided to enroll in a Real Estate course and become a licensed realtor. At the time, my father, Bill Thomas had been selling real estate for 30 years. Dinner table conversations consisted of real estate and current dealings so you could say I was “somewhat” familiar with the industry. Having always enjoyed working with people I was ready to obtain my license and assist people in the biggest investment of their lives – not to mention the emotional roller coaster that comes with purchasing and selling a home.

Over the past 8 years I have witnessed the height of the market, the crash, short sales, foreclosures, and the ups and downs of interest rates; needless to say this has not been a boring industry. However, I can honestly say that what I love most about being a Realtor are the relationships and friendships that I have made along the way. It’s funny, I am so involved with my clients through negotiating, updates, emails, txts, etc. that it’s hard turning off that contstant contact and when it’s over  it’s hard not having that interaction. The positive that I take away is when we are at the setlement table I can see the joy and excitement in my clients eyes and that it’s not a state of goodbye but the start of a relationship that will last forever.

For those that took the time to read my first blog I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about myself. I look forward to more posts, hearing your responses, chatting about the topics, and keeping you updated on all things Northern VA.

Until next time, keep the fire,

Jay Thomas
