Loudoun Hounds – Northern Virginia’s Baseball Team
February 2nd, 2012 by adminIn early September, VIP Baseball announced that it would be bringing a professional baseball team to Loudoun County – the Loudoun Hounds. The Loudoun Hounds will be competing against the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Teams like the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, Long Island Ducks, Camden Riversharks and the Lancaster Barnstormers. Although the announcement was made in September of 2010, construction of the Ballpark at Kincora has not started and the opening day schedule has been moved from 2012 to 2013. The Kincora ballpark or “The Dog Yard” will seat 5,500 spectators and be the first minor league baseball part to have its own microbrewery at the corner of Rt. 7 and Rt. 28. Other ammenities will be multi-million dollar HD scoreboards, a National Hockey League-sized public ice skating rink, rocking chair section, twenty-two luxury suites, a non-alcoholic family section, picnic pavilions, exclusive rides and games for kids, and radio broadcasts that will be aired throughout the ballpark. The Loudoun Hound name and logo was created to embrace the equestrian traditions that are imbeded in the history Loudoun County region.
Over the past few years Fetch and the Loudoun Hounds have stayed involved with the community of Loudoun County. By wanting to stay true to the area and implementing “Loudoun” into the baseball team name, the Loudoun Hounds preserved the overall sentimental feel throughout Northern Virginia and surrounding areas.
